David and Victoria Beckham are thought to have made a bid for Aston Villa. The couple have been searching for a new home and Victoria was heard to ask her husband "What about a villa?' David Beckham has told close friends that he has fallen in love with the Birmingham countryside and thinks that the Holte End is the ideal family home.
The UEFA elite stadium is a vast mansion and can currently house over 40,000 so Victoria Beckham should have no problems transferring her wardrobe to Birmingham.
Although a football stadium, Villa Park is in the grounds of a former stately home, Aston Hall. The Beckhams may seek a return to such days. One stand was the work of celebrated architect Archibald Leitch, although the move to all-seater stadiums as a result of the Taylor Report put paid to that.
It remains to be seen if the Beckhams' offer will be accepted. If they do move in to the stadium, Aston Villa will be expected to change their strip to something designed by Prada.
