David Moyes has been sacked by Everton following their shock 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal on the first day of the season.
In fact it transpired that he was sacked at half time, when Everton were trailing 3-0. The club tried to appoint Graham Taylor in the fiftieth minute, but he was too busy commentating. They then tried to sign Stan Allardyce, who said he was interested but was busy watching his side lose to Man City. Martin O'Neill was similarly busy going down to Wigan
The club rushed out another statement: "After a long forty five minutes consideration we have decided to give David another chance. But he knows that in football we have to take short term knee jerk decisions in the interests of long term strategy, so he could be out at any time."
