German tanks were seen gathering on the border with Austria again this morning after more than 60 years of peace between the two countries. It's thought an invasion is imminent.
Germany has been at peace with Austria since 1945, but rivalries have remained, and tempers have been fraying since the draw for the Euro 2008 football championships paired the two together with Poland and Croatia in the Group of War.
Now, as the tournament begins, tens of thousands of German troops have said "Auf Wiedersehen!" to their Frauleins, and headed south to Vienna in search of beer and a good time, and, if the weather stays fine, a little book-burning.
Austrians have evacuated towns close to the border and run for the hills, and the government has imposed a state of emergency. Austria play Germany in Vienna on June 16th.
Spokesman for the Austrian Philharmonic Orchestra, Dr Hans Tuba-Blower, said:
"Ja! It's like ze Sound Off Music all over again!"
