The BBC, in its wisdom, has taken up the gauntlet for Women in Sport, and, for a trial period, has agreed to allow women to read the football results in its Final Score programme on Saturdays.
Women are not normally very good at that sort of thing, and are far better left at home in the kitchen, or hunched over an ironing board, but BBC executives are confident that a woman can carry it off, and have compiled a list of suitable candidates.
First up is Gaby Logan, the chatty host of the Inside Sport programme, who, with her nudge-nudge manner and blond locks, should be a winner with football fans, especially armchair supporters who enjoy a wank with their punditry.
Also on the BBC list are Catherine Tate (Am I bovvered?), axed BBC news reader Moira Stewart, and Big Brother's Davina McCall, who might 'sauce' things up a bit.
The first trial is scheduled for Saturday 15th December. For more information on this story, and to read the transcript, see here.
Next week's guest reader is former Conservative Party MP Anne Widdecombe.
