Police today confirmed that they have seized 400,000 Poinsettia plants in a dawn raid on a disused factory in Streatham. They arrested 2 men and 2 women under the governments tough new anti-drug legislation.
The plants were found being forced under ultra violet lights after a member of the public noticed unusual activity at the factory one night last week.
An eyewitness confirmed that police were removing young Poinsettia's- also known as the "red weed"- all day in gold pots decorated with tacky Rudolphs and Santas. It is believed the plants were destined for Black Sunday Markets all over South London.
A spokesman for the "Legalise Poinsettia" campaign, Doris Windridge, today commented,"Get with it, man. Free the groovy plants, their vibrant red spikes make us all happy over the festive season."
However, in a statement released by the Metropolitan Police it was revealed that the plants will be destroyed humanely as they "just wilt and die after Christmas anyway."
