MIAMI – (Sports Satire) - A devoted group of Miami Dolphins fans have presented a petition to the team owner, Stephen Ross, to have the team name changed.
The group which calls itself, “Any Name But Dolphins” says that the dismal record that the team had last season is downright pitiful.
Miami finished the 2019 season with a record of 5-11, and two of the wins were forfeits when the other teams did not show up for the game due to adverse weather conditions.
The group spokesperson, Fabian Waffle, 34, said that the name Dolphins just does not instill any type of fear in the eyes of their opponents.
He noted that team names like the Bears, the Lions, the Buccaneers, and the Vikings are fierce names.
Waffle added that he would put the passive name, Dolphins, in the same category as a team being named the Lambs, the Giraffes, or the Ballerinas.
The “Any Name But Dolphins” group also pointed out that the team uniform colors also have got to go.
The fiery group points out that there isn’t another team in any sport, anywhere in the entire world, with the submissive team colors, aqua marine; navel orange, orange; and snowflake white.
