ATLANTA – The Savannah Blaster-Register is reporting that the Atlanta Braves organization sent out over 23,000 survey cards to their season ticket holders.
They asked what name they would like to see replace the Braves moniker.
The organization received over 700 different names, including the Aardvarks, Alligators, Anteaters, Armadillos, and the Ghostbusters.
The name that received the most votes was the Hotlantas. So the Atlanta Braves will soon ride off into the Georgia sunset, and the new Atlanta Hotlantas will ride into town.
Reports are that many die-hard fans, who did not want the Braves name to be changed, were seen crying in the streets of downtown Atlanta.
Police were afraid that they would start rioting and looting and stealing stuff like TVs, sofas, beer, Cadillacs, and moon pies.
Police had to be called, because many were blocking the entrance to fast food restaurants, including The Great Wall of China Chinese Restaurant, Hot Hanna’s Hot Dog Hut, and Carmen’s Casa de Chicharones.
The organization said that the name ‘Hotlanta’ is a play on the words 'Atlanta' and ‘hot’, which is apt, as residents of the city know, temperatures in the summertime can reach 107 degrees in the shade.
The new team logo will be a sunray shaped in the form of the letter H.
