It's only the first week in February, but already there have been calls for the Premier League title to be handed to Liverpool, after the Reds beat Southampton 4-0 at Anfield yesterday, to move 22 points clear of their nearest rivals.
Unsure of the correct course of action to take, PL executives called in a team of mathematicians to calculate just when it would be impossible for the 'chasing' teams to catch the Merseyside club.
Even the term 'chasing' has to be used guardedly, as the 'chasers' are actually falling further behind.
Never has a team been so far clear of the other teams, and it's unclear, at what point Liverpool will be 'uncatchable'.
One of the boffins commented:
"You don't need to be a mathematician or a football fan to know that this season has been over for a long time!"
