They might remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, but, after barely surviving a nervous last half-hour at Shrewsbury Town yesterday, some football pundits are asking "have Liverpool finally cracked?"
The 4th-round tie at Gay Meadow against League One opposition should have been something of a 'stroll in the park' for the Reds, and, after going ahead through Curtis Jones, and then going two clear by virtue of an own goal by Donald Love, Liverpool were sitting comfortably.
Then Jason Cummings came on.
Everything changed.
With the coming of Cummings, all Liverpool's shortcomings became apparent.
First, a penalty, and then, in a backs-to-the-wall rearguard action, they conceded a second, and will now have a replay to stage - a fixture that Jürgen Klopp will be furious about. At this crucial stage of the season, extra games - including those in Europe - suspensions and dreaded injuries, one more game is not what he will want.
Even though Klopp sent on Firmino and Saleh to secure the game, they came up empty-handed, and were made to look ordinary by The Shrews.
Manchester City will have been watching, and might still harbour thoughts of overhauling the Reds, whilst one pundit was heard to ask the question:
"Are the wheels starting to fall off at Anfield?"
