A weird event happened in the world of football this weekend: Arsenal won away at one of the best teams in the country. After (if you read the football papers) a hundred and seventy five years and nearly a million games Arsenal finally managed to scrape a undeserved victory. Please remember this is a team that has only won one FA cup in ten years! How shit is that?
A clear dive by the tiny gnome in Arsenals midfield and a header (that was preceded by at least ten fouls) gave them the narrowest of 2-0 wins at Manchester City.
I spoke to Arsene Wenger after the game: "I believe the mental strength of the players with the defensive experience was the key today. I believe that we are capable of winning these important games and I believe in my players and I believe in myself."
Stirring words from a man who (remember) has never won the Champions league!
Although Chelsea had nothing to do with today's game we thought it would be prudent to get Jose Mourinho view on the result. And on how bad Arsenal really are compared to everything else.
Jose said: "Was it a good result for them? I don't know, but probably not. We won 5-0. I don't see him doing that do you? No of course not because I am Jose Mourinho and he isn't. Well nobody else is. But me."
Wow. Just take in those words of wisdom delivered by a man who has won the League cup something that Arsenal have NEVER done under Arsene Wenger.
So have Arsenal turned a corner? The biggest let down since pop band "Puncture and Nail" released their single "Blow Me Up" may possibly be getting closer to the top sides.
We at Back and to the Left news sincerely doubts this and have put a tenner on them getting knocked out of the FA cup by Brighton at the weekend.
