Apple has launched a social network in an attempt to grab a share of the market from sites such as MySpace.
Ping, as its known, will allow users to build networks of golf playing friends, especially putters.
The executors of the estate of the late Bing Crosby ,however, are attempting to serve a court injunction to stop the launch of the site on the grounds that it flagrantly plagiarizes "Bing", the website set up for fans of the late American crooner, who coincidentally was also a golf fan.
Apple can expect a rush of similar lawsuits from the following - a website devoted to Highland dress ("Fling"), Campanology ("Ding") and , last but not least, Scottish curtain suppliers ("Hing").
