An incredible new optical illusion is captivating billions of people around the world. Sharp-eyed Facebook users are being challenged to spot three monkeys craftily concealed in the seemingly simple picture, which appears at first glance to simply be a black background.
The image prompted a flurry of activity from people excited to find a new optical illusion barely distinguishable from the thousands posted yesterday. “I found them all in under ten seconds. Easy,” one user said.
“I thought I found them all, but now I can only see two. Where did the other one go?” asked another.
Others were less impressed. “WTF are you all smoking? There are no monkeys in this picture!!! Grow a brain!!!”
More than half the people commenting on the image could only see one monkey, one claimed to have found four monkeys, seven ostriches, three tigers and a giraffe, while another user, ‘DonT’, claimed to have found proof that the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged.
The illusion works because many people are unable to process complex patterns of lines into an image of a monkey. In this case, there is one monkey on the left, one in the middle and one on the right.
It has also been revealed that 0% of people can see why this story is on a news website.
