A man has told how his home was invaded by "millions" of flying insects that arrived shortly after dark, and buzzed obsessively around a light for hours.
The scene at the home of Englishman, Moys Kenwood, was "like something out of a horror movie", according to one man who is prone to exaggeration.
"There were billions of them," he said. "They were buzzing around the light outside, but many of them also tried to get inside the house where we were all watching telly."
The insects, whose name nobody knows, regularly appear just after darkness when atmospheric conditions are right, and are, indeed, attracted to sources of light. During the night, their wings fall off, and they die, leaving the homeowner with a good deal of sweeping-up to do in the morning.
Said Kenwood:
"We turn all the lights out, so they stay outside, but it's tricky if you're reading a book, looking at old photographs, or making an Airfix model."
