Scientists analyzing photographs sent back to Earth from the Event Horizon Telescope, which was used to capture the very first images of a black hole, have said that there appears to be another black hole inside the first black hole.
The original black hole, Powehi, revealed much to the boffins, but the presence inside it of a second black hole - as yet unnamed - was the last thing they were expecting.
The second black hole cannot be seen, of course, as everything inside a black hole is black, but the scientists say there is an area of the blackness that is even blacker than the rest of the black hole, and it is there that they say the second black hole is situated.
It's not known how the second black hole managed to get inside the first black hole, but it may have been sucked there billions of years ago when the universe was first forming. Or not, of course.
Only time will tell.
