The results are in. According to an article on the BBC website, the blobfish has earned the unofficial title of "world's ugliest animal." Read the article and see a photo (but not on a full stomach) here.
Others have chosen to interview Miss America and Miss America wannabes; not Gail Farrelly, a science & technology reporter at TheSpoof.com, who packed her bags and her scuba gear and rushed off to Australia to interview a blobfish (his name is "Mr. B") to find out how he feels about winning the "ugly" title.
Mr. B told Farrelly that he was elated to win the competition. In his view, good looks are overrated and so are sexy names. "I have neither, but it's not a problem, glug, glug, glug," he said.
According to Mr. B, there are certain advantages to his situation. For example, he has no concerns about improving his looks. On the day of his birth, they were as bad as can be, and it's perfectly all right. He pointed out that most creatures have to worry about losing their looks as they get older, but not him. "Never had 'em to begin with," Mr. B proudly reported.
The spunky fish told Farrelly that his hobby is collecting quotes about the topic of ugliness. His favorite comes from comedian Robin Williams: "Never pick a fight with an ugly person, they've got nothing to lose."
Good advice!
