LONDON - The United Kingdom Commission of Northern Newspaper Publishers, which is based in Manchester, has just announced that its 73-member organization has overwhelmingly voted Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole as the winners of its yearly "Most Ideal Couple of Great Britain."

This year, unlike previous years, the winning couple is neither married to each other or engaged in an intimate relationship.

Cowell and Cole are merely co-workers who appear as judges on the hit reality show X-Factor.

Last years winners were John and Toni Terry. The Terry's will present the coveted "Idea Couple" plaque to Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole on April 26, at a black tie affair to be held at the exquisite Hotel Robin Hood.

Cowell and his girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy were having dinner at Bloody Bob's Fish & Chips Diner in Wembley when he was told that he and Cheryl Cole had been named "The Most Ideal Couple of Great Britain."

Simon stated that he was honored and added that he hopes that Cheryl and Ashley can work things out. He smiled and said that if they don't then he would be first in line to get into Cheryl's knickers.

Mezhgan just smiled and continued with her meal. When she was asked if that remark did not make her jealous or upset she merely smiled.

Simon finally stated that she was not going to say anything because she had a real bad case of laryngitis.
