History must remember a woman who has given birth to nineteen children, according to Dr. Chaim Pipick, head curator for the Smithsonian.
The Smithsonian approached Michelle Dugger and her husband with the proposal that Ms Dugger's uterus should be preserved for posterity and kept on display for all Americans who want to see what a "celebrity" uterus looks like.
The museum has plans to display the uterus in a prominent location, next to the controversial exhibit of John Dillinger's penis.
Dr Pipick commented that the placement of the uterus was a difficult decision: "At first we thought it belonged in the celebrity wing, maybe next to the pubic hair of Elizabeth Taylor, or a used John Wayne condom. But ultimately the placement committee was unanimous in agreeing that the uterus should be displayed in The Celebrity Anatomy exhibit."
The Duggars had requested the uterus to be displayed in The Religion Wing with icons like The Dead Sea Scrolls and The Mormon Golden Tablets but the museum had concerns that placing the artifact here may be blasphemous.
Dr Pipick explained: "Michelle Duggar has insisted that we include a inscription which reads - "In this jar is the Uterus which God blessed and made capable of having nineteen children", and we do expect to get a lot of flack from the atheist and separatist groups on this."
The uterus is due to be removed on Christmas Eve after a gynecologist/priest announceds that it is officially dead. It will then be going on a world wide tour run by The Vatican and heavily promoted by TLC in a series of TV Specials.
