I was in Singapore ahead of the talks to deliver a speech about regional security, before the foreign ministers from the European Union (EU) and the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting for talks in Brunei on Friday.

I said: "There is much to be gained from both regions cooperating more closely!"

The hotel here is great, and the people so willing. A porter Juan, even came to the bedroom to tuck me in, a little like Obama did for Cameron. My personal assistants, Adrian on my left, and Lucien on my right were not too happy about it though!
