Shearer sent me a text this morning. Unusual - he's such a tight git I thought he would prefer an email - although he probably doesn't know how to turn on a computer - being from the norf and all that. He told me Scott Parker is the new England captain appointed by caretaker boss Stuart Pearce. I think he's trying to wind me up, because I was appointed England captain by a temporary manager (Peter Taylor) as well.
I need to think of a funny reponse to his text. I'll give Ricky Gervais a call. He'll think of something.
