Words Words and More Words

A recent trilogy of short stories on TheSpoof.com has highlighted confusion in the word count functionality. All stories are required to have 100 words, what is not clear is how this is calculated.

As an example the text in this story has a Microsoft word count of 96. But on The Spoof.Com submission board it shows up as having 100 words. Adding to the confusion, the title has 4 words and the picture caption has 5.

It does not add up! Note that both systems assume that TheSpoof.Com counts as one word and not two.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
