Pope Benedict issued a statement declaring that people should listen to their hearts and their faith and not to "seductiveness of science." The centuries old battle between religion and science has caused rifts with the Catholic Church for centuries, including the excommunication of Galileo for saying that the Earth was not the center of the universe.
In his speech, the Pope said that biology, chemistry, physics, geology, and astronomy can all be seductive to the people studying them using current equipment, techniques, and theories.
"We should refrain from seeing things in this light," said his holiness. "We should go back to the roots and value systems of the past. We should return to those same things that have seduced the faithful, local Catholic Priest for years: men's bottoms."
