The White House. Special to The Spoof. In a tweet today, President Donald Trump issued an executive order requiring Britain and France to repay $8.5 billion in debt that they've owed to the U.S. since World War One.
"It's just a coincidence that the debt equals the amount the president needs to build his border wall with Mexico," Sarah Sanders told reporters at today's news briefing. "These were legitimate debts that should have been repaid by the 1980s under an agreement with those nations made in 1922. He isn't even asking for interest, just the original principal."
Speculation is that the president is miffed over frequent negative comments about Trump by the heads of the two governments. It also is a backup plan in case the U.S. courts declare unconstitutional his attempt to use funds from the U.S. military budget for construction of his wall.
The Yellow Vests in Paris immediately trashed the American embassy there, while British anarchists burned American flags in front of the embassy in London.
