Oslo - The Norwegian Forest Cat Fanciers Association today backed down over some defamatory remarks published online about the breed's proclivities.
An article in Pussy News Oslo-Style apparently repeated that ages old chestnut about the mogs having a long sturdy body, long legs, bushy full tail... 'and that the profile of the breed is generally straight'.
A spokesperson for the country's LGBT cat breeders apparently took offence that Norway's national feline pin-ups were being smeared in such a totally unprovoked attack.
"Nobody knows how many gay, lesbian, bi or indeed transgender Forest Cats actually exist," Per Smorgasbord commented, "or indeed the incidence of non-hetero proliferation among other breeds such as the Swedish Razorpaw or the Finnish Clawback.
"However the last thing we want happening in Norwegian cat affairs is the willy-nilly cherrypicking of newborn litters based on possible mating preferences."
His remarks may now mean an official amendment in the NFC's official profile from 'generally straight' to 'ever so slightly suspicious in the gender orientation department.'
The QM's own cat is a Maine Coon.
