Washington DC: The Washington Republicans are staging a comeback. A new team General Manager Reince Priebus of Wisconsin has replaced Michel Steele of Maryland. Mr. Steele only won one third of the games played in 2010, but he is credited with "the House that Steele built."
Players who have signed with the team are Newt Gingrich of Georgia, Ron Paul of Texas, Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, Jon Huntsman of Utah, Gary Johnson of New Mexico and Buddy Roemer of Louisiana.
Team scouts are pursuing Sarah Palin of Alaska and Rick Perry of Texas. Team scouts are also pursuing the potential rookie Chris Christie of New Jersey, although he says he is sitting the season out. Another rookie, Herman Cain of Georgia has signed with the team.
Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, Jeb Bush of Florida, Mitch Daniels of Indiana, Donald Trump of New York and Jim DeMint of South Carolina are currently sitting the season out.
One of the problems with the new team lineup is that all of the team members want to play right field, with possibly Mitt Romney or Jon Huntsman playing center field. However, sponsorship by various tea companies has been brisk resulting in numerous "Tea Parties."
The Republican team in their opening game will be going up against that other Washington DC team with the southpaw (left handed) pitcher Barack Obama of Illinois.
The team owner Karl Rove anticipates a better season in 2012 than 2010 for the Republicans and expects the team to be presidential. There are rumors that the Washington Republicans would also like to remake the Washington Senators in their own image!
