President Obama pardoned the White house turkey today in a traditional ceremony held on the east lawn. The President was joined by his daughters Sasha and Malia. The turkey named Apple and his understudy Cider were both brought in from Foster Farms, they both underwent rigorous tests to make the grade. Obama considers the tradition to be one of the most important duties of his office.
Not to be out done by Washington bureaucracy Bo Hodgkiss of Bullsnort Tennessee held his own ceremony. Bo decided to gather all his town folk, relatives and friends so he could pardon his prize sow Mabel. Mabel is a 770 pound big bellied multi blue ribbon pig.
When Bo was asked why he felt the urge to pardon a pig, his reply was, "I told everyone if she ever reached 770 pounds I'd make her bacon, but I just don't have the heart".
Now Apple Cider and Mabel will all retire to Mt Vernon to live out their days in the lap of luxury.
