In the Newport Richey area of Pasco County, Florida, a man kept calling 911 and reporting that his mother had taken away his beer and his clothes so he couldn't go after any more.
Explaining later, after several cups of strong coffee, Daryl Neighbors told police that he got smashed after losing his livelihood because of the oil spill on the Gulf.
Police say that they finally answered Daniel Peterson's call after he had called 911 for the sixth time.
"He was very drunk", stated one of the Pasco County deputies. "He kept trying to have us get his beer back. We had to take him in before he wandered out naked."
Back at the jail, Peterson had sobered up and was apologizing to everyone. "I just want to pay my fine and leave."
Peterson promised not to get drunk over the oil spill again and told his mother, "I'll raise some money and bail you out Mama. It was my fault you drunk all that beer. They say they will not press charges for your streaking through the neighborhood."
"Go away. I have such a headache."
