BOSTON, MA - A Boston police officer has been sentenced to perform under the big-top after being fired for referring to a black Harvard professor as a "banana-eating jungle monkey."
Officer Justin Barrett apologized for his comments in an e-mail about Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and denied he has anything against our distant cousins.
"I understand my choice of words was poor, but I never meant to imply I have anything against banana-eating jungle monkeys," said Barrett.
He will now have a chance to prove his words; for the next year, Barrett will be on circus detail, working side by side with the little critters, learning to use a hula hoop and ride a unicycle while wearing silly little outfits.
