WASHINGTON D.C. (AP Newsliar) -- A turkey pardoned President Bush today in a ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House, in Washington.
Presidents since Truman have pardoned a Thanksgiving turkey yearly in this decades-old White House tradition, but the event has been updated in recent times to reflect modern political realities.
"President Bush, you are hereby pardoned for eight horrible years," gobbled the turkey, Mr. Wishbone Giblets of Dubois, Indiana. "But I'm warning you, don't show your face around these parts again, or it won't go easy on you."
The annual contest had come down to a random drawing between Bush, Cheney, and Scooter Libby, who had all tied for top-honors as the country's biggest turkey.
