Barack Obama expressed "sincere regret" today over his controversial remark about putting lipstick on a pig. After substantial criticism that his joke was an inappropriate statement about Sarah Palin, Obama explained that he "never intended to offend any pig, pig farmer, or anyone involved in the porcine industry."
Speaking in his usual eloquent style, Obama waxed in verse:
It's not about Sarah Palin
John McCain is for whalin'
It's not about her son Track
It's about this dumb war in Iraq
Who cares about a pig's lipstick?
Have you seen Al Gore's flick?
We have got to push and push
So we don't get another George Bush!
After his speech, members of the livestock industry cheered enthusiastically, and the Obama campaign reported a surge in contributions. Steven Spielberg and Michael Moore are working on a film project based on Obama's poem, with the working title "Pig Lipstick", due out in late October.
