Washington DC: Senator Hillary Clinton (D) NY announced today that she was becoming a Republican.
She said "it is with a heavy heart that I walk across the aisle to the dark side, but I have re-examined my principles and found them more in line with the other party."
Long time associates bid her a found farewell as a Senate Democrat, but wished her luck knowing they would be hearing from her soon enough.
Washington DC political insiders tell another story, as to the change in Senator Clinton's political affiliation.
Apparently the closed door meeting with Senator Obama, relative to Hillary's viability for second place on the Democratic ticket and her stance on supporting the presumptive nominee did not go well. The meeting broke up about 2:30 AM. (Clean up crews were seen carrying lots of broken china cups and glasses from the meeting site.)
Immediately following the meeting at about 3:00 AM Senator Clinton placed a phone call to Republican Senator John McCain. Hillary postulated that the senator's general election victory requires attracting the millions of voters who turned away from Senator Obama during the primary elections.
She said "I can deliver states like Kentucky, West Virginia, the Blue Dog Democrats, Reagan Democrats and other disenchanted Democrats. Remember I was once for the Iraq war and can learn not to spend recklessly. All I ask in return is second place on the Republican ticket."
