ABS News Agency June 28, 2007 - Anonymous FBI sources confirmed today that they and the CIA are behind the media blackout on 2008 Presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul. When contacted, a CIA spokesperson explained that they could neither confirm nor deny any involvement in the media blackout, known as Operation Silencer.
Apparently these agencies have threatened members of the media with "enhanced interrogation techniques," "extraordinary rendition," being locked in a room with President George Bush for extended periods, and being forced to go on hunting trips with Vice President Dick Cheney.
One of the FBI sources noted that the FOX News network readily complied with Operation Silencer, and assured the agencies that FOX News employees routinely waterboarded each other and their guests, so there was no need for concern. The source also revealed that many journalists from PBS and NPR had been somewhat more difficult to "persuade" to adhere to the blackout, and pointed out that many of them are currently on "extended leave".
When asked who had ultimately ordered Operation Silencer, the FBI sources said that it was unclear, but they were under the impression that the order had originated from Vice President Dick Cheney's office.
