Selmer, Tennessee (WTF News) - In a bizarre and sad twist of fate, a charity event called 'Cars for Kids' turned tragic over the weekend resulting in horrendous injuries.
A souped-up Corvette was performing an 'exhibition burnout' (a.k.a. spinning its wheels) when it went out-of-control and drove into the crowd of spectators.
A few facts about the charity event:
- Donations of used cars are accepted.
- It has raised money for injured and disabled children since the son of the founder, Larry Price, suffered a head injury 18 years ago.
The Tennessee Board of Tourism has expressed sincere sadness about the incident, especially at a time when the state was just starting to shed its reputation as a backward bunch of rednecks.
