The White House. Exclusive to The Spoof. President Donald Trump publicly removed Thomas Modly as acting secretary of the navy following Modly's insulting remarks to the crew of the carrier Theodore Roosevelt about their former captain, Brett Crozier, whom Modly ousted last week.
"The secretary's speech to the crew was a disgrace," the president said, "unbecoming of the navy's civilian leader. His remarks were idiotic. Yes, idiotic. The man is not fit to lead the navy."
Modly had demeaned Crozier, telling the crew that their former commander was either naive or stupid, therefore unfit for command. Modly also berated the crew for cheering their captain as he left he ship last week. During Modly's speech, there were shouts of support for Crozier and voices of disapproval when the secretary labeled Crozier as stupid.
Later in the day, Trump tweeted that he had contacted Crozier and offered him the post of acting navy secretary. The captain has not yet agreed to take the post.
