News has just reached us that, later today, Thursday 28 November, thanks are to be given for Thanksgiving.
When everyone has woken up and gotten out of bed, that is.
That's nothing unusual, of course.
Thanksgiving, the one day in the year with that title, has traditionally been a day when thanks are both given and received, and this year will be no different.
The fourth Thursday in November has, indeed, become synonymous with the donation of thanks, and, to illustrate this, Americans throughout the country will take to repeating the phrase to each other countless times, and getting on each other's nerves with it.
Many people will say:
"thank you!", whilst others will give
"thanks", then stuff themselves with turkey.
