After a good deal of back and forth over instant messaging in which he patiently directed software user Christine Roberts toward the arrow at the top left of her computer screen, technical support wiz Tony Valdez effusively congratulated Christine on locating the correct arrow and clicking on it.
"Great job Christine!" typed Tony. "Were almost there. If your having trouble I van share my screen with you .. Would you like that Christine?"
Appreciating that Tony was so eager to help that he couldn't be bothered to double-check spelling and/or grammar, Christine's endorphins soared. "No, that's okay," she typed. "Now I think I see the drop-down I was looking for."
"Your doing great Christine," typed Tony. "Thats not a problem. Your good to go. Good job! Anything else I can help your with today Christine?
Heartened by the effusive praise for what she'd mistakenly presumed to be a relatively basic task, Christine felt confident enough to proceed on her own. "No, I'm good. Thanks, Tony!" she typed.
"Your very welcome Christine!" replied Tony. "Have a great day :)"
And in that moment, Christine knew that she would.
