US President Donald Trump has been crowned runaway winner of the inaugural Twitter 'Twit of the Year' competition in its new annual tournament of twits.
The president has been a major contributor to the social media site since he first tweeted on May 4 2009, posting an incredible 2.9% of all posts worldwide during 2018. He has written on a multitude of topics as diverse as money, power, success, women, abortion, immigration, crime, 'being American', religion and race, all replete with lies, misinformation, warped opinion, and good old basic bullshitting nonsense.
Trump has more than 57.9million followers on Twitter.
According to a June 2018 Fox News poll, only 7% of respondents said Trump's tweets were hurting his agenda, whilst 80% said the tweets were useful in helping them understand the politics of the day. With those kinds of figures to go on, Twitter's decision for their 'Twit of the Year' was fairly straightforward.
When told of his success, Trump tweeted:
"Just won a prize for been the bestest twitter. Making America Great Again!"
A prominent women's magazine has also voted Trump 'Tit of the Year', whilst one of the top men's monthlies has Trump as its 'Twat of the Year'.
