After a chance discovery, earlier in the day, of what might turn out to be the nose of murdered dissident journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, another breakthrough has just been made in the same area of Istanbul - a pair of spectacles that, on the face of it, look just like those of Mr Khashoggi!
Police forensic scientists were reported 'close' to discovering whether or not the nose found by a woman dogwalker belonged to Mr Khashoggi, but if it does, then this afternoon's find could prove significant.
A Turkish police spokesman said:
"We now have two important pieces of evidence, if these items prove to be the victim's - a nose, and a pair of glasses to put on it. It's going to be a slow process, but we hope to build up, bit-by-bit, piece-by-piece, if necessary, an authentic lifesize model of Mr Khashoggi, to assist us in our inquiries, and to keep as a macabre souvenir."
