Gladys Hornswagger of Morristown, Tennessee blames her ruined date with 'that hot nerd' Griffin Gaskey, on their date at the new Taj Palace Plus Restaurant in nearby Knoxville.
The proprietors told the couple that their food was authentic Indian but they had 'Americanized' the food by making it less hot.
"Griffin was acting all knowledgeable about Indian food that I found out later, came off his computer, so he ordered us a bunch of curries and different meats and vegetables. My first bite wasn't so bad."
But, apparently, as the young couple continued to eat and drink a gallon of cola, the food had a building effect until Griffin blew his running nose and caught his hanky on fire.
"Griffy was so embarrassed he stomped the handkerchief out and when he stomped too hard, a huge blaze from his rear set his pants on fire."
After Griffin ran out the door, poor Gladys had to call her parents not only to come after her, they even had to pay for the meal.
"You owe us big time Gladys", is all her dad would say. Her Mom was silent but with arms crossed.
However, he did let go a few more unprintable words when the back seat suddenly caught on fire.
