BRONX, New York - The Bronx Zoo has informed the New York City Police Department that Barbie, one of their Australian kangaroos has jumped out of her escape-proof enclosure and vaulted the zoo grounds six-foot-tall fence.
Ingrid Chainmill, 27, who is in charge of the zoo's kangaroos, flamingos, snakes, and hippos, said that about 4:15 on Saturday morning she heard a commotion coming from the kangaroo house.
She put down her iPad and went outside to investigate. Upon rounding the corner to the Kangaroo house she noticed that Barbie had managed to jump out of her escape-proof enclosure and was heading toward the entrance fence.
Chainmill said that before she could load her tranquilizer gun Barbie managed to miraculously hurdle the 6-foot-tall fence as if it was just inches tall.
She immediately called NYPD to report the escape. After she returned to the kangaroo house she noticed a pill box which contained two pills that are commonly known as speed, which when taken gives the pill taker a tremendous boost of energy.
SIDENOTE: The NYPD was notified that Barbie is not dangerous but she does have a tendency of taking small objects and putting them in her pocket.
