As the news of Romney's Big Bird comment from the debate reverberated around the world his initial bounce in the polls quickly abated and started a downward trend. As the Chicago Tribune reported in its morning headline: "Romney steps in it one more time!"
In related news, journalists stationed outside the Romney home in Massachusetts report this morning spotting the seven-year-old granddaughter Of the Romney's walking up and down in front of their home carrying a sign. It read: "I love Big Bird! Grandpa---You're fired!"
As reporters rushed to interview the child Governor Romney ran to the child and picked her up. They heard him say to her, "Hush baby, when I'm elected president maybe I will pardon Big Bird for Thanksgiving. If not, you can have a drumstick!"
Last seen Romney was carrying the little girl kicking and screaming back into the house.
