WASHINGTON D.C. - Both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum both distanced themselves this week from vocabulary that radio host Rush Limbaugh used to describe a woman who expressed the opinion that her health insurance should pay for her contraception.
Limbaugh called Georgetown student Sandra Fluke "a slut, a prostitute," claiming that Fluke was in effect expecting her insurer to pay her for having sex.
"It's absurd," said Santorum from the campaign trail. "That comment shows no depth of vocabulary. Bimbo, fluzzy, or harlot. Those would good places for a start."
Romney, in a rare moment of solidarity with his GOP opponent, echoed Santorum's sentiment. "This fallen woman, this jezebel conjures up many a colorful word. In Michigan, where I recently barely escaped with a win, we refer to these strumpets as tramps, a minx, a malkin, or slatterns.
"Slut just doesn't do it for me. Friends of mine who own NASCAR teams would never hire a prostitute, but instead a call girl or an escort. But not a common prostitute."
