Rail travellers in the U.K. are steeling themselves for disruption with the news that Arriva Trains will be striking in Wales and parts of England next week.
Although workers have been offered a 12% increase over the next 2 years, union sources claim that their members are getting lower pay than their counterparts in England.
Rail and union bosses have been in talks from months but have still not succeeded in coming to any from of agreement.
Operations Director for Arriva Trains Wales Peter Leppard confirmed the failure to agree at a news conference today : "Despite our best efforts, it appears that Aslef and RMT members are determined to strike on Tuesday.
The good news for the public is that we anticipate an improved service as a result".
