After 10 years of intensive research, scientists at Cambridge University have discovered that sheep are not nearly as stupid as previously believed.
"The public's perception may have always been that these animals are inherently dumb, but our studies would indicate that many display logical thought that could compare with that of humans", research leader Professor Jamees Plunkett said yesterday.
"We have noticed that, especially in a flock of Welsh sheep up in the Cambrian mountains, some creatures displayed some remarkable examples of intelligent decision making.
"For example, anytime a male voice choir came on the radio in our landover, 3 or 4 of the more dominant rams would immediately high tail it further up the hill until the song was finished.
"Funnily enough, Katherine Jenkins' singing had the exact opposite effect. Whenever "Music Of The Night" was played, the same animals would crowd round the vehicle very closely indeed and would get quite agitated if any of us tried to change station.
"I've no idea why".
