Buckingham Palace is advertising for a new "head of travel" to help the Royal Family cut costs and reduce their carbon footprint.
The post, worth between £55,000 and £75,000, is advertised on the family's web site.
A palace insider said: "Members of the Royal Family undertake almost 3,000 official engagements a year, so the appointee will be asked to look at reducing travel costs and carbon emissions.
"Also, more trips that Her Majesty undertakes will have to include visits to Portsmouth.
"She has admitted to a very few close friends that she was completely gutted to have missed most of Pompey's exploits in the Premier League and their FA Cup win.
"Now they're struggling financially and playing in the N Power Championship, she feels they need her more than ever, that her presence at Fratton Park could be a big morale booster.
"The new travel adviser is going to become very familiar with travel arrangements in and out of Waterloo and along the A3, M3 and M27."
