Members of Newby Women's Institute, Isle of Wight, have come up with a wonderful idea which they are putting into practice for the first time next Saturday.
Tired of finding single socks in their washing machines and dryers, not knowing what to do with them...hang on to them to see if the 2nd sock shows up? How long will THAT take? Will it EVER turn up?..
They have decided to to hold a SINGLE SOCK PAIRING SOCIAL.
The SINGLE SOCK PAIRING SOCIAL will be a gathering of villagers who are in possession of single socks. They will take the odd socks and display them on tables with their names attached. Then socks will be paired, if at all possible.
To keep this event 'fair' everyone should be going home with half the number of 'pairs' of socks than the number of single socks they took to the Social.
For example, if you take in 12 single socks and successfully find matches, you are only allowed to take home 6 pairs.
Villagers are excited about this innovative idea. If this event is successful then the village will hold a SINGLE MITTEN PAIRING SOCIAL next month.
Update on the village's missing snow shovel - no news yet!
