The UK officially left recession in the last quarter of 2009, thanks to a massive injection of government money into the economy.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown was triumphant in parliament today. He said, to the usual jeers, "Ye see! Ah did it! Ah saved the universe again."
He continued, "Thanks to mah decishun tae pour all the government tax income into our government bank account, we made a profit of one poond last quarter. That's mair than we've made for o'er a year! Ah'm sure you wee scunners will no thank me, but ah was saving pennies oot of mah pocket money all year and ah personally contributed that extra poond of profit oot o' mah ain pocket. Ah even claimed it on mah expenses too!"
