There was drama at the seaside at the weekend, when a man fell out of the sky onto a group of men who were innocently playing in the sea, causing them to become shocked and disturbed at the intrusion of their privacy.
The incident happened at Margate beach, less than an hour's drive from London, as dozens of weekend visitors to the Kent resort frolicked in the waves under pleasant September sunshine.
Without warning, the man, clad in swimming trunks, plunged towards the sea from an unknown elevated location, and splashed into the water, drenching parts of the bathing group that had not already been drenched. The image was captured on a mobile phone by a girl who was very alert.
The group in the sea sought an explanation from the faller, but, when this was not immediately forthcoming, they took matters into their own hands.
They forcibly removed his swimming trunks, and threw them onto the beach, causing him a dilemma.
Police said the descent was totally unauthorised, and are looking into the possibility the man was emulating David Bowie in 'The Man Who Fell To Earth' for a bet.
