Various AI systems have been shown to write amazingly believable fake news, but in a survey people overwhelmingly believe The Spoof website can outperform the fastest AI.
"I've read tons of shit The Spoof puked out and I'm telling you, nothing could be worse," said Lady Gaga.
Tec International, a company owned by the Chinese government, has developed an algorithm that can generate plausible-looking fake news stories on any topic using just a few words to start with. It finds names and attaches random news events to the person.
The Chinese are said to be improving their AI to write better and better convincing material, and that's leading some to wonder whether they should release the system into the internet, because it would generate volumes of fake stories.
The good news is that the technology has problems at being creative which allows fake news websites to put out an abundance of miracle stories.
