A journal recently discovered by historical researchers from the Institute of Hipsterism at the London Academy of Social Sciences reveals that Adolf Hitler originally grew his distinctive mustache as a joke. "I have adopted the most comical of moustaches" Hitler noted in one entry, dated June 6, 1922, "No one can possibly take me seriously with such a ridiculous facial accoutrement."
Although the researchers have released only a few quotes from Hitler's journal, they do note that subsequent entries are incredulous in tone. At one point, Hitler comments "What do I have to do to convince people that this moustache is simply not suitable, invade Poland?"
Researchers say it's too soon to declare that Hitler was the 20th Century's most prominent hipster, but it's clear that he was among the least likeable.
