A compulsive shoplifter was admitted to hospital in Margate today suffering from hypothermia. Gladys McGurgle of Conker Road was accused of theft from Tesco on Saturday.
Police said that in addition to several other items, Mrs McGurgle had taken two frozen chickens and stuffed them up her jumper. She then left the store and walked to the nearby bus stop.
Unfortunately her usual bus failed to arrive on time. Passers by saw her trembling but she was unable to speak to them, so they phoned the police .When the police arrived they discovered the chickens. She later admitted the theft and was charged.
